Clavia ha analizzato il disegno del sintetizzatore analogico in dettaglio ed ha implementato la ricerca in molti modelli digitali. Nord Lead impiega simulazioni matematiche del segnale generato da oscillatori analogici, anziché usare tavole di forme d'onda.
